Bryan Angus DA - Bryan studied at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen and has had a varied Creative Retreat painting tutor and owner Bryan Anguscareer in the arts, as theatre designer, visual artist and arts manager. For the last 8 years Bryan has been re-inventing his visual arts practice, exhibiting and making pictures which are now held in private collections in Germany, Sweden and the UK. In May 2011 he won the Aberdeen Artists' Member's Prize at the annual exhibition at Aberdeen Art Gallery. Michael Kitchen - Michael has drawn and painted every day since childhood and although strongly recommended for Art School, chose a more exciting and adventurous career in the British Army. For 26 years he travelled the world painting and exhibiting throughout and then, in 1989, his passion for art prompted him to take early retirement as a major to paint full time. Settling first in Aberdeen, his birthplace, Mike soon received widespread acclaim for his artwork, fulfilling a number of high profile portrait and landscape commissions. Together with his wife Mary he also ran residential painting holidays at their home ‘Wood of Shaws’ in Aberdeenshire and tutored artists in North Africa, Tuscany, Slovenia, Crete and France. For the past few years Mike has also combined his love for travel and painting by tutoring occasionally on international cruises. Accomplished in watercolours, oils and pastels he has a reputation as a considerate and encouraging tutor who ensures that everyone receives plenty of genuine guidance and teaching. Anne Smart MA - Anne trained at St Martin's College in the 70s, gaining a first class honours in sculpture. Soon after starting painting in 1978 Anne began to receive acclaim for her work, which is now held in many private collections. Carla Angus BA - Carla trained and worked as a Theatre Designer for many years, specialising in small scale installation work which allowed her the freedom to work with a vast range of materials, from flowers to steel to latex. In recent years she has been creating stitched, sculptural artwork that often combines drawing with various bonding techniques and media. Carla has an extensive background in teaching and creative facilitation with all ages, and passionately believes everyone deserves time and space to be creative. She also works as a local authority Arts Development Officer.
