The house is superb, many, many thanks."We offer you charming accommodation in two traditional 18th century fishermen’s houses, Stroma and Bankhead, a few minutes walk from the sea. Each interior has been designed with your relaxed comfort in mind, whilst retaining the individual character of the house. The hire of each house includes its own studio. StromaIn the 19th century this granite house was owned by the village fish curer, perfectly sited a few yards from the seafront. The spacious accommodation now spans two floors, sleeping up to 10 in three twin bedrooms, (one with an additional sofa-bed), and a family room with a double and a single bed. The house has two wc/shower rooms, and a large modern dining-kitchen/living area. Two bedrooms and one wc/shower room are on the ground floor.
Stroma StudioPreviously used as a school room and religious meeting hall, this large centrally heated studio is 12m by 6m, equipped with drawing boards, easels, tables, chairs and a sink area with tea/coffee making facilities. There is a wood-burning stove at one end, with sofas for comfortable breaks. This is an excellent working and teaching space, a private workspace to escape from the family or to send the teenagers to. 24 hour access. BankheadThe home of the village bakers and then ironmongers until the late 20th century, Bankhead house sleeps 6 in three twin bedrooms, with wonderful sea views. The accommodation is situated above the old ironmongers’ shop in the heart of the old village. There is a modern kitchen with cosy living-dining room, and one wc with separate shower room.
Bankhead StudioThe studio is 7m by 3m with central heating and sea views over the picturesque roof tops, through West and North facing windows. It can accommodate two to three artists and is equipped with drawing boards, easels, tables, chairs and a sink area with tea/coffee making facilities. This space is particularly useful in the winter months as a warm refuge with excellent views to work from. 24 hour access. How to BookPlease contact us by email, phone or letter to enquire after availability. We ask for 50% of the cost as a non-refundable deposit to secure your booking. We prefer payment by cheque, made out to The Creative Retreat, sent to our office address in Banff (see Contacts Us page). If you are coming from outside the UK, please ask about our Paypal account, as we can accept payments through that in any currency, with a small admin charge.

High Street StudioHire includes tables, easels, drawing boards, sink area with tea and coffee facilites, central heating, masses of light from windows on three sides over Gamrie Bay, disabled access toilet. The High St Studio is available as a package with the hire of the accommodation, please contact us for a quote. Per head per nightFor couples and solitary travellers we offer accommodation on a per-night basis. This includes full access to Stroma or Bankhead's studios at £30 per head per night, and is generally more available during the off season, (we prefer to book full weeks the rest of the year).
